Personal networking and guarding your privacy
Sharing personal information is important for informal networks of people who share common interests. But we also know that broadcasting personal information indiscriminately is unwise. The Spiritual Direction Colorado website can support personal and professional networking in a way that protects your privacy. You can manage your privacy without closing yourself off from potential colleagues and opportunities. Here's how it works.

When you register on the Spiritual Direction Colorado web site—at any level of interest—you're invited to create a
Personal Profile, like the thumbnail image at the right. By default, the personal information you enter in your Personal Profile
is invisible to the public. The information you enter is visible to the website administrator at all times.
As we get better acquainted, we hope that more and more people in our network will decide to share information about themselves in our Online Network Directory. Share the information you feel comfortable sharing when it makes sense to do so.
Here's how the web site makes that possible. When you're logged in to this web site, you can see your Personal Profile page and access your privacy settings. Click on the "
access by others" link at the top of your Personal Profile page to see a list of the information that you
may share. The second thumbnail image below shows the three columns of buttons that give you line-by-line control over what information you
will share.

You control who sees what by clicking one of the buttons opposite each line on the information list:
a) visible to everyone (including casual visitors to the site)
b) visible only to registered users logged in to our web site
c) not visible to anyone (except website administrators)
You could set up your log in and password to place yourself on the SDCO email list, but choose to remain invisible to other registered users and the public. On the other hand, you could set up your log in and password, then choose privacy settings that make all of the information you've entered visible to any and all people who visit the SDCO website.
You can change these personal privacy settings to be more disclosing or less disclosing at any time. It's always your choice.
