Writing as a Tool for Spiritual Companioning
with Kent Ira Groff, Wednesday, August 20, 2008
Theme Bring your struggles in spiritual guidance, teaching, preaching, counseling, healing, and parenting—any form of helping vocation. Find grace through your fingertips in relationships and tasks. Through simple exercises, we will explore twin dimensions of writing: the tide of contemplation (self-discovery) and the tide of communication (relating to others)—with a spiritual spin in formal presentations or informal notes. The leader will draw from scripture, films, and participants’ experiences, using his book Writing Tides (available at local bookstores, online, or at the event). (Download a flyer “08-08_KGroffWritingAsTool.rtf”.)
Leader Kent Ira Groff, founding mentor of Oasis Ministries, is a spiritual companion, writer and retreat leader, now living in Denver, Colorado. He is author of several books, including Active Spirituality: A Guide for Seekers and Ministers and What Would I Believe If I Didn’t Believe Anything?: A Handbook for Spiritual Orphans. He describes his work as one beggar showing other beggars where to find bread. (Visit www.kentiragroff.com.)
